Innovative Education Leader Art of Problem Solving Launches Brand Refresh

San Diego, CA, April 7, 2015 – Art of Problem Solving (AoPS), an innovative educational organization, bookstore and online learning community for advanced mathematics, today launched its new website and brand refresh. AoPS launched its online community in 2003 to provide gifted students with a forum to learn and practice math problems outside of the traditional public school offerings.

Jacob Tyler brand communications agency worked closely with the AoPS team to refresh the organization’s brand, and create a user experience-focused website that enhanced the AoPS community. The Jacob Tyler team provided a new logo, an updated color pallet, and website wireframes, as well as strategic planning and direction. “This was a true collaboration,” said Michelle Peck, Jacob Tyler Creative Director. “The AoPS team is filled with mathematics and engineering professionals who did much of the site’s coding based on the wireframes and strategic direction provided by Jacob Tyler.”

The new website features responsive design, making its offerings available across multiple devices, including tablets and smartphones. “Our biggest challenge was creating a website through which a significant amount of information could be easily accessible on the mobile devices favored by our audience – mostly adolescent students,” said Jason Batterson, Headmaster of AoPS’ Beast Academy. “The Jacob Tyler team did a great job mixing style and strategy to make this happen. We’ve gotten some great feedback from our community. The kids particularly like our math problem game, Alcumus.”

“We did a lot of research into similar platforms – particularly colleges and universities whose sites include extensive information about classes, schedules, etc.,” said Peck. “What we came up with exceeds existing platforms, and we plan to use it as a model for future clients in the education space.”
