SAN DIEGO, March 9, 2012 — Jacob Tyler CEO Les Kollegian has been appointed acting Chief Marketing Officer for Borglar, a location based augmented reality gaming company. During this weekend’s South by Southwest (SxSW) festival, the nation’s largest annual interactive, music and film conference, Borglar alongside CEO Andrew Couch and Kollegian will unveil the newest generation of mobile gaming to more than 20,000 projected interactive attendees.
Borglar allows for users to collect virtual coins, medallions, and other special items that can be exchanged for real-world rewards. Kollegian, who has received a six-percent stake in the San Diego-based startup, is tasked with marketing to gamers within the real-life adventure space. Kollegian believes the convergence of the virtual and real world is the next generation of social marketing.
“As an avid user of Foursquare, I see the increasing value of location-based marketing,” said newly appointed Borglar CMO, Les Kollegian. “Adding a gaming component to real-world interaction with substantial payoff makes perfect sense as we develop augmented reality and additional marketing solutions.”
“We want to give our players a fun and interactive gaming experience and combine that with tangible items to be acquired in the real world. Whether it is actual items, discounts or location-based information about something in their local area, we believe this interaction between the real and virtual is what people have wanted to see in augmented reality games, but the technology wasn’t quite there yet. It is very exciting we are able to give it to them now”. Founder and CEO Andrew Couch.
The innovative new concept allows virtual goods to be placed at specific GPS coordinates ensuring that unique users are exposed directly to marketing messages at the precise location of the merchant’s choosing. Borglar delivers real-time promotions and brand communication through a highly functional and incentive-based game layer where the environmental factors facilitate immediate interaction between virtual and real world goods and services.
The Borglar application is a multi-dimensional cross-promotional platform that can be easily integrated or added onto any current two-dimensional promotional campaign to ensure direct brand visibility in a non-intrusive, fun, and interactive environment for the player.
For the merchant, login to Borglar on your computer anytime from any place to start a new campaign with immediate implementation of promotions and watch as Borglar players interact with them. Borglar delivers real-time promotions and brand communication through a highly functional, incentive-based game layer where the environmental factors facilitate immediate interaction between virtual and real world goods and services in real-time.
